Rooting for the Home Team: Portsmouth’s Black Baseball Players, Promoters, and Parks

The 2022 Black History Now! program and the Portsmouth Colored Community Library Museum are presenting a brand new exhibition, Rooting for the Home Team: Portsmouth’s Black Baseball Players, Promoters and Parks, to highlight the history of baseball among Portsmouth’s Black community in the mid-20th century. Learn about some of the community’s renowned players, teams, and ballparks starting February 4th. Admission is free. Donations are encouraged.
