Buffalo Mountain Church and Cemetery is located on the border of Carroll and Floyd counties. This was the Rev. Robert Childress’s first church after his graduation from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, and served as the mother church for five others constructed by him. He originally preached at the Buffalo Mission School, and the rock-faced church was built in 1929, three years after Childress arrived.

Many properties listed in the registers are private dwellings and are not open to the public, however many are visible from the public right-of-way. Please be respectful of owner privacy.
