The country church traditionally has been an essential component of the peaceful, ordered lifestyle of the American farmer. A rural landscape devoid of these structures, however modest, would be incomplete. Trinity United Methodist Church, in the Montgomery County village of Ellett, is a plain, nave-plan brick church, and is characteristic of the many such buildings that served agrarian communities. It is set apart from the usual area churches by the use of a corner tower with a picturesque belfry and steeple lending the church an audible as well as visual presence in the neighborhood. The congregation was organized in 1856 on property donated by the locally prominent Earhart family. The original church fell into disrepair and was replaced by the present building in 1908-10, reusing the bricks from the old church. Dedicated in 1913, the Trinity United Methodist Church has been in regular use since and has preserved its simple original interior.
Trinity United Methodist Church was listed in the registers under the Prehistoric and Historic Resources of Montgomery County MPD.
