Situated in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Albemarle County, the Crozet Historic District began in 1876 as a railroad stop that gave rise to a crossroads village along the prominent Three Notch’d Road. A prosperous fruit and orchard industry in the area transformed the village into a thriving community at the turn of the 20th century. Crozet’s historic buildings mostly date from 1900 through 1930, reflecting its expansion from a community centered on a train depot and crossroads into a regional hub for packing, storage, and shipping of orchard products.
Many properties listed in the registers are private dwellings and are not open to the public, however many are visible from the public right-of-way. Please be respectful of owner privacy.
